Privacy policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
This policy explains how Magnetar Digital ("I", "me") uses any personal information you give me through this website or by email. I keep things simple: I only collect what I need to reply to you and to work with you.
Who I am
Magnetar Digital is a small web design business based in Teesside, UK, working with businesses in Teesside, the North East and anywhere in the UK. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), I am the "controller" of the personal information described here. You can contact me at info@magnetardigital.co.uk.
What I collect
When you use the contact form or get in touch, I may collect:
- your name and business name
- your email address and (if you give it) your phone number
- the type of business you run and anything you write in your message
Like most websites, the host also keeps basic technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) for a short time to keep the site secure and running.
Cookies and tracking
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or any other tracking, and it doesn't show adverts. The fonts and images are hosted on this site, so loading a page doesn't send your details to anyone else (such as Google). If that ever changes, I'll update this policy first.
How I use it, and why I'm allowed to
- To reply to your enquiry and discuss a possible website. The lawful basis is legitimate interests (answering people who contact me) and, where you're asking for a quote, steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.
- To provide services if you become a client, including invoicing and support. The lawful basis is contract.
- To keep business records required by law (for example for tax). The lawful basis is legal obligation.
I won't add you to a mailing list, sell your details or share them with anyone for marketing.
Who else handles your information
I use two service providers, who only process your information on my behalf:
- Netlify hosts this website. Messages sent through the contact form are collected and stored by Netlify Forms and passed on to me.
- Zoho Mail provides my business email, so emails you send me (and form messages forwarded to me) are stored there.
These providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards approved under UK law, such as an adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long I keep it
If you get in touch but don't become a client, I'll delete your enquiry within 12 months. If you become a client, I'll keep your details for as long as I'm working with you, and business records for up to 6 years afterwards, as required for tax purposes.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how I use it, and to ask for it to be transferred. Just email info@magnetardigital.co.uk. I'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Keeping it safe
This website uses HTTPS, and I use secure, password-protected accounts with two-factor authentication where available.
Changes
If I change this policy, I'll update it on this page and change the date at the top.
